[HOWTO] Enable Minimize and Maximize buttons on window title bars in Fedora 17

Windows (Shells) in Fedora 17 (with Gnome 3.4.2) do not display the Minimize and Maximize buttons on the titlebar. I (like many) find it hard to work without those buttons. I searched on the internet and there are two ways to do this.

  1. Using gnome-tweak-tool:

    $ sudo yum install gnome-tweak-tool

    Launching the gnome-tweak-tool (Alt-F2, type gnome-tweak-tool) opens a window with title ‘Advanced Settings’. Navigate to ‘Shell -> Arrangement of buttons on the titlebar’ and change the value to ‘All’.

  2. Using the dconf tool:

    $ dconf write /org/gnome/shell/overrides/button-layout '":minimize,maximize,close"'

KTHXBYE!
